Coalitions and Partnerships

The following are ongoing groups or projects that focus on health of young children, youth and young adults:

Young Children

Ingham Great Start Collaborative
The Ingham Great Start Collaborative (GSC), Birth to Five is a coalition of human service agencies, parents, and other partners working together to develop a network of early education and care to support children and families in Ingham County. It has several sub-committees focusing on intellectual and social development including the Social Emotional Workgroup, the Quality Initiatives Workgroup, and the Early Childhood Literacy Coalition.

Michigan Primary Care Association
Mission: To promote, support, and develop comprehensive, accessible, and affordable community-based health care services to everyone in Michigan.

The Food System Workgroup of the Land Use and Health Resource Team
The Land Use and Health Team is a collaborative effort in the tri-county, mid-Michigan area that involves planners, university faculty, business and public health. The purpose of the Team is to educate and engage the community regarding impacts of the built environment on health, and facilitate improvement through refinement and promotion of a health impact assessment tool. The Food System Workgroup works on food issues. Youth Gardening Coalition
A group of youth garden leaders has come together to create a coalition to provide support and resources to youth gardens in the Greater Lansing area. YGC is looking to reach out to youth who are or want to be part of the youth gardening effort.

Community Coalition for Youth
The mission of the Community Coalition for Youth is to facilitate and coordinate the development and implementation of a data driven, comprehensive, community-wide program in a full continuum of care for all youth in Ingham County.

Ingham Change Initiative
The mission of the Ingham Change Initiative is to provide policies and practices that will assure all youth in Ingham County have successful life outcomes.

School-Community Health Alliance of Michigan
The School-Community Health Alliance of Michigan (SCHA-MI) is a collaboration of individuals and organizations that represent and support school-based and school-linked health care and through their actions, commitment and passion support the belief that all Michigan children and youth have a basic fundamental right to access and receive comprehensive primary health care and prevention services.

Lansing Latino Health Alliance
The Lansing Latino Health Alliance is an organization founded in 2003 to reduce health disparities and inequities and to improve the health status of Latinos residing in the greater Lansing area.

Greater Lansing African American Health Initiative
The Greater Lansing African American Health Institute is a non-profit 501c3 organization that provides education, information, advocacy, and outreach about health matters that affect people of African descent in the Ingham County area. Ingham Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition
The mission of the Coalition is to reduce substance abuse and its related consequences and stigma.

Impact System of Care
Impact is a partnership of child and family-serving agencies working together with youth and families to provide coordinated services for children with serious emotional disturbance (SED). Impact strives to build and enhance home- and community-based services for young people involved with the juvenile justice system and/or Department of Human Services.
